PLC LIBRARY Circulation Policy

A. Sign Out

All borrowers must be registered with Pleasanton Lacrosse Club to borrow library materials. Patrons must fill out the sign out sheet provided at the time of loan from the assigned PLC Board Member. The sign-out sheet has a check box for the patron's information and acceptance for the following:

I agree to be responsible for all items borrowed from PLC. I promise to comply with all PLC library rules and policies both present and future, and will give prompt notice of lost library material and will provide replacement costs (cost noted on material) to PLC.

Names will be checked against the current PLC roster. Applicants under 13 years of age must have a parent or guardian give their consent. Parental signature is not required.

Those persons who have signed out material will be responsible for the material. Please do not loan or pass on the material to friends. Please turn in material on or before the due date and have interested party sign out the material under their name. Due to demand for materials, a wait list may be necessary and this is the only fair way to insure proper tracking and disbursement of library material.

B. Loan periods

  • 2 weeks for books. Books may be renewed once if there is not a waiting list for the title.
  • Periodicals may be checked out for one week.
  • 1 week for videocassettes and DVD’s.

The PLC Board may establish the loan period for special collections, materials that are temporarily in great demand, or materials added to the collection. There is a limit on the number of items a patron can borrow at one time. Limit (2) items per person.

C. Reserves

Patrons either in person or by e-mail may place reserves. Patrons will be notified by e-mail when and where the materials will be available.

D. Fines and charges

There are no fines for overdue materials. A first notice is sent after the material is due. If the material is not returned within a designated period, a bill will be sent for the material with the cost of replacement of the material and a service charge for processing, cataloging and postage. Patrons who have been sent an overdue notice shall be denied borrowing privileges until those overdue materials are returned or paid for if lost and/or damaged.

E. Damaged materials

If materials are damaged so as to be judged by the PLC Board as being unsuitable for the collection, the patron must pay the replacement cost. A notice of these charges will be sent to the borrower; a sample of the notice follows:

Dear____________________________

At the time a library patron borrows materials from the PLC library collection, the patron assumes the responsibility for the care and timely return of the materials. Recently materials checked out on your behalf were returned to the library damaged beyond the point of being usable in the Library's collection. The titles and costs of these materials are listed below:

---------------------------------- $---------

Your assistance in clearing this matter promptly will be appreciated and will be necessary in order to retain your borrowing privileges.

Thank you in advance for your prompt response to this matter.

Sincerely,

PLC Board of Directors

NOTE:

·          PLC reserves the right to deny the privilege of checking out material.

·          The PLC website will carry a complete up to date library inventory for review, and will be updated as material is added.
